What digital platforms are students currently using to develop their professional network?

For me personally, a few of the more commonly used digital learning platforms are Microsoft Groups and Zoom, as most professors create dedicated groups and links in Microsoft Groups and Zoom before the semester begins. Similar software and websites are available, and most of them allow users to create professional profiles and provide remote communication services. I think the popularity and usage of these digital platforms depend on region, profession, and personal preference.

What could the student consider in expanding their professional learning network?

I think students can use the help of professors and peers when expanding their professional learning network, and most professors are motivated to share their experiences and provide support to their students, which is an excellent place to start. Students need to identify their career goals and attend appropriate online courses and seminars to keep up with updates and developments in their field.

How do data privacy and security limit and/or promote a personal learning network?

Digital privacy and security are issues that everyone in the information age needs to consider, as open-sharing platforms have led to many unauthorized citations and accesses causing plagiarism problems. However, strict cybersecurity measures restrict students and users from accessing specific types of data.

In your network how can you create a digital identity/ reputation?

First of all, you need to ensure the authenticity and validity of the information in your personal network and show your educational background and work experience (if you have work experience). Post long or short articles regularly, and actively participate and respond to visitors’ comments. On the other hand, actively seek opportunities to network with fellow students in your field, and join relevant groups if possible. This will help build a good digital presence.

This is an interesting and efficient blog. I like the approach you talk about in creating a digital identity/reputation. I think this approach can also be applied to expanding your own professional learning network. Also, regarding data privacy and security, do you think the benefits of online security measures outweigh the drawbacks? This measure also often prevents us from finding the data we need on the web.

I think your thinking is pretty much the same as mine, and I think you did a great job in the section on students expanding their professional learning networks and building digital identities and reputations. But I still want to ask a quick question, do you worry about the security risks of your information being too truthful, and how do you determine if someone else’s information is true?

I like the diversity in the applications you use specially that many of these apps are new to me ! I have a quick question because I normally use gmail for institutional use , do you use it only for personal communications?
